Voice of Young Girls and Women (VYGW) is a Non-Governmental Organization established by and it works directly with Young Girls and Females at High Risk through engagement on matters that affect their life with common voice in creating strong community in fighting against HIV/AIDS, safer sexual practices, legal assistance for sexual violence and entrepreneurship skills as well as psychological support in protecting human rights. The organization is strengthened by committed members to promote, support and advocate for basic rights and for the welfare of Young Girls and Females at High Risk in Tanzania.
We effect change through multiple responses, training and skills programs to build capacity; generate evidence to influence policy and challenge practices that undermine health, human dignity and sexual rights. Also, VYGW Connects Young Girls and Females at High Risk in responding to the urgent needs of their communities in relation to rights-based approaches to both economic empowerment and the disproportionate levels of violence experienced by them.
Our mission is based on an enduring commitment to progressive social change and an end to all forms of exploitation and discrimination, ensure access to support services among AGYW. To ensure that the activities performed by Voice of Young Girls and Women are aligned with the mission, we work in collaboration with other organizations. VYGW implement community interventions in Treatment Care and Support, Rights Related Barriers to HIV, Adolescent Youth, Key Populations and some aspects of prevention for general population.
VYGW has strong relationships with PEPFAR-Tanzania, AMREF, AIDSFOND, Aidsfonds, , Frontline AIDS, Women with Ambitions (WWA), Tanzania Health Forum Initiatives, Non-State Actors (NSA) and Government.
