About VYGW

Voice of Young Girls and Women (VYGW) is a Non-Governmental Organization established by and it works directly with Young Girls and Females at High Risk  through engagement on matters that affect their life with common voice in creating strong community in fighting against HIV/AIDS, safer sexual practices, legal assistance for sexual violence and entrepreneurship skills as well as psychological support in protecting human rights. The organization is strengthened by committed members to promote, support and advocate for basic rights and for the welfare of Young Girls and Females at High Risk in Tanzania.

We effect change through multiple responses, training and skills programs to build capacity; generate evidence to influence policy and challenge practices that undermine health, human dignity and sexual rights. Also, VYGW Connects Young Girls and  Females at High Risk  in responding to the urgent needs of their communities in relation to rights-based approaches to both economic empowerment and the disproportionate levels of violence experienced by them.

Our Vission

VYGW’s vision is having a community where all Young Girls and Females at High Risk can enjoy their health and human rights, and confidently undertake their work in a safe environment; thus, a community in which they are able to attain and enjoy the highest level of physical, mental, sexual and social well-being, irrespective of their age, culture, religion or socio-economic status.

Our Mission

VYGW’s mission is to support and empower Young Girls and Females at High Risk  to make informed selections concerning their sexuality in eliminating gender-based violence to promote access to essential services including legal services, sexual reproductive health services and human rights.

Thematic Areas for Program Implementation

HW
Health and Wellness
Access to healthcare including sexual and reproductive health. This thematic area includes initiatives aimed at providing health education, HIV prevention, and treatment programs.
Peer
Community Building and Peer Support
Creating supportive networks and community groups to share experiences, resources and information.
ECO
Economic Empowerment
Encourages skill-building programs, financial literacy training and alternative income-generating activities to achieve economic dependence
ADVOO
Advocacy and Legal reform
Advocating for the legal reforms that protects Girls and Young Women rights. It encompasses campaigns to challenge discriminatory laws, policy frameworks that undermine girls and young women

Voice of Young Girls and Women and its policies should aim to be for the benefit of all members regardless of culture, age, religion, social or economic status/class and race. We are accountable to our members for our actions, use of funds, and for fulfilling any of our legal obligations.

Voice of Young Girls and Women is based on the mutual respect, honesty and integrity of its members, as well as on the assurance of confidentiality.
